It can sometimes be cumbersome, and heavy, but a pitchfork can really help you get the job done once you know how to use it properly. It is a great tool for turning your soil around existing plants. It can break up thick clay combination’s and allow you to lift and break through it. It can act as a shovel for larger items, and if needed, you can use it to break air holes into the ground. Generally, in the garden, we may not use it at the historical level of use on the farm, but it is an appreciated tool when it gets the call.
