Boxwood (buxus)

Boxwood plants are broadleaf evergreens that offer a variety of uses. They can stand alone, be potted up, or create a hedge. With so many varieties available, this plant can serve formal and informal styles of Landscape design. Shearing a boxwoods new growth will strenghten the plants density to the point where you will only need to shear for pure aesthetics. Boxwoods offer a green winter show, but may incur some bronzing, which can be cut of in spring. While most Boxwoods are hardy to zone 4, harsh winter winds can burn the plant if in high exposure. Happy in full sun or shade and anything inbetween, it is important to know that while varieties of this plant can be drought tolerant, it enjoys a regular sip on especially dry times.
