Pink

The Dianthus plant has hundreds of varieties, and comes in annual and perennial form. This sun loving plant can be used as a groundcover, and other varieties will grow to 3 feet high. This somewhat drought tolerant plant needs good air circulation, and it will do better without heavy mulch around the base. The showy flowers will reproduce from June bloom until late August is proficient deadheading is done. As the perennial version expands, early spring divisions are recommended. Notice the blueish stems, and how new flower shoots grow out the joints of the stem. These plants are great for stem cuttings.
